Grammar Spree

Leaning grammar is very interesting and at times very entertaining even though many students find it difficult to learn grammar
Therefore let's start from the very beginning

In English language 
there are hundreds and thousands of 

 
which have different forms and functions
Let's look at what kinds of words we have
There are words which we identify as

nouns
adjectives
determiners
pronouns
verbs
adverbs
prepositions
conjunctions

and
interjections 
 All these are also called Parts of Speech.

 Lets begin with



Noun is a word that we use to name

we name :

 a person or people
boy , woman ,Pavan

 an animal
cat , lion, camel

  a thing
table, pen, box

 a place
village, Wattala ,town

an idea
price, noise, friendship

a quality
kindness, beauty, pride

a state
peace, honesty, harmony

an event
competition, concert, sports meet

an action
 cycling, reading , riding

 a feeling
happiness, sorrow, joy

 an occasion
wedding, funeral, party
and
 a processes
argument ,thought

 Therefore noun is a word that name anything!


Nouns  name people:

The Clown’s Wife by Johnson Agard  Quick overview about the poet Johnson Agard was born in British Guiana (now called Guyana) in the Caribbean, in 1949. He moved to the UK in late 1970 and is well known for powerful and fun performance of his work. He went on to study English, French and Latin at A-level, writing his first poetry when he was in sixth-form, and left school in 1967. He taught the languages he had studied and worked in a local library. He was also a sub-editor and feature writer for the Guyana Sunday Chronicle, publishing two books while he was still in Guyana.   Farewell to Barn Stack and Tree by A. E. Housma n About the Poet  Alfred Edward Housman (26 March 1859 – 30 April 1936) He was an English classical scholar and poet . He began his life as a clerk in the patent office and worked for eleven years. In 1896 he published A Shropshire Lad a compilation of his poetry collection consisting of his sixty three poems.
