Possessive Pronouns


                                                   



 A
  Possessive Pronoun 
shows who or what something belong to.

It is used in place of a

noun phrase

and prevents repetition.

Following are the possessive pronouns

 mine,ours, yours, his, hers, its, theirs

Look how  they are used in sentences!

This is my bag.

This bag is mine


 Everything that belong to me is my thing
This bag belongs to me.

therefore 

This is my bag.

so we can say

This bag is mine.  



ours
That is our house

That house is ours.


Everything that belong to us is ours.

The house belongs to us

therefore 

That is our house

so we can say

That house is ours.

This exercise book is yours .




Everything that belongs to you is your thing
 That car belong to you

therefore

so we can say

Those  bags are theirs .



If there is more than one possessor their is used.



They are carrying bags.

Those bags belong to them.
therefore

They are carrying  their bags.

so we can say

Those  bags are theirs .
