Adjectives

Read the following paragraph paying attention to the words highlighted.

 

This is Samanali. She is a clever girl. She is pretty and smart child too. She has long hair and round face with blue eyes. She has thin lips and rosy cheeks. She is a tall girl with a slim build. She is one of the smart students in her class. She is not only pretty but also kind and helpful person. Her friends like her a lot because she is a very talkative and outgoing girl. She lives in a small house in a remote village, her house is in big garden. There are many and colourful flowers in her garden. Those flowers are very beautiful. There are also many kinds of plants and huge trees in the garden. There is also a deep well. Ask mall brook flowers beside her garden. There is clear blue water in the brook. There are also colourful fish in it. There are many mango trees in her garden and they are filled with ripe mangoes during the fruit season. There are two cows in a small shed near the house and also five hens in the pen. She loves to spend in her garden but she has little time to spend in the garden as she has lot of other work to do.

 All the highlighted words in the above paragraph describes or give certain information about some other words.

They show the
kind or quality
of
a person or a thing or a place

 

Examples: 
 
Samanali is a pretty girl.

She is a strong woman

He is a lazy boy.

He is a happy child.

They are playful dogs.


  It is a spacious house.


She has an innocent look.


  He was angry.


  Her mother is a hardworking lady.


My sister’s room is an untidy room.

Remember!

this and that are used with singular nouns.

these and those are used with plural nouns.

this and these are used with things that are near

that and those are used with  things that are  far.
